Benahavís Natural Area

Benahavís is a paradise for nature lovers. It is an ideal place for hiking and enjoying a unique landscape, which relaxes the mind and excites the senses. Benahavís is a mountain village, located 7 km from the coast. It is situated between Marbella, Estepona and Ronda. Although it is called the dining room of the Costa del Sol for its numerous restaurants and bars, Benahavís is one of the typical white villages of Andalusia, boasting an important Arabic past. The Montemayor Castle, built in the 10th century, provides stunning views over the Costa del Sol.
With 12 golf courses in the municipal area, Benahavís lies at the heart of the Costa del Golf, a true paradise for golfers of all levels.
Its privileged location, surrounded by peaks on the hillside of Sierra de las Nieves, makes Benahavís an authentic natural and tourist treasure. From its hills, 100 kilometres of Spanish and a large part of North African coastline can be seen.

Three rivers flow through the municipal area, which start in the Ronda mountain range and flow into the Mediterranean.
Another place worth mentioning is the mountain lake known as the Charca de las Mozas, located next to urban centre of Benahavís.

The Regional Government of Andalusia has declared it a “Natural Monument”.
