Shigeru Ban Winner of the Pritzker Architecture Prize 2014

The Pritzker jury has chosen the Japanese architect Shigeru Ban as the 2014 winner of the prestigious prize for his modern architecture. Ban has been a pioneer in his use of recycled materials such as cardboard and paper in humanitarian aid projects. He has achieved high quality designs at very low cost, for the most needy, such as refugees and victims of natural disasters.

Since its creation thirty five years ago, the objective of the Pritzker Architecture Prize has been to recognise living architects for their excellence in constructed works as well as for a significant and consistent contribution towards humanity.
